Swamps, rivers, lakes, waterfalls. There are lots of water views around Sheffield, Mass. Umpachene Falls, in nearby New Marlborough, flows over stair-stepped rock surrounded by birch and hemlock. The long, tall falls is Race Brook Falls, about a mile from my house. The Housatonic River runs from the northern Berkshires to Long Island Sound, and the Great Falls, in nearby Falls River, Conn., are indeed great.
